Abstract

1,200,144. Plastics caps for bottles. J. GRUSSEN. 24 July, 1968 [28 July, 1967; 9 Feb., 1968; 2 July, 1968], No. 35371/68. Heading B8T. A tamperproof cap of plastics material is formed with a retaining band 1 which, as shown from below in Fig. 4, is partially separated by slots 17 from the main part of the cap and which, by breaking bridges 15, may be lifted to provide a tear-off ring. Inwardly extending portions 12 retain the cap on the neck of a bottle to which it may be fitted. Zones 13 create weaknesses in the vertical wall of the cap causing it to tear as the cap is removed. The retaining portions may be in two parts (11a), Fig. 5 (not shown); or in one major and two minor parts, Fig. 6 (not shown). The band 1 may have a boss (1b) Fig. 7 (not shown) supporting a label disc welded both to the boss and the main part of the cap. A plug portion 4 of the cap may be double-walled and a plastisol seal (22), Fig. 9 (not shown), act on the end of the bottle neck. A groove (25, 25a) in the cap top, Fig. 11. (not shown), may provide further means to cause the cap to tear as it is removed.
