Abstract

1,200,001. Pneumatic tyres. PIRELLI S.p.A. 13 March, 1968 [6 April, 1967], No. 12167/68. Heading B7C. A pneumatic tyre tread ring 1 is provided with an inextensible reinforcing structure 2 comprising one or more helically wound metallic cords, a rubberized metallic cord fabric layer 4 having a width ranging between 80-100% of the width of the inextensible structure and located radially outwardly thereof, and a pair of rubberized metallic cord fabric strips 5, 6 each having a width not greater than 35% of the width of the inextensible structure, the cords of the layer and strips being oppositely inclined and arranged at an angle ranging from 30-70 degrees with respect to the mid-circumferential plane. In a modification, strips 5, 6 are located radially inwardly of the inextensible structure instead of radially outwardly thereof as shown. The tread ring may be provided with a layer 3 of textile cord fabric radially inwardly of the inextensible structure, the textile cords of which are inclined at 90 degrees with respect to the mid-circumferential plane.
