Abstract

1,199,178. Floor and carpet cleaning apparatus. W. H. WISDOM. 10 Oct., 1967 [16 May, 1967], No. 46225/67. Heading A4F. A floor and carpet cleaning apparatus (illustrated in an underneath plan view in Fig. 5) comprises a nozzle unit 10 divided by a partition wall into two chambers, one having a suction inlet slot 17 and a connector for a hose 56 leading to a source of suction, and the other containing an electric heater for heating cleaning liquid supplied thereto via a hose 57, and passed therefrom via a hose 50 to a manifold 45 for discharge through nozzles 47 to impinge at an acute angle on to the surface to be cleaned adjacent to the suction slot 17. The nozzle unit 10 is supported by a roller 43 for movement over the floor or carpet surface by a handle (not shown) and applies heat and suction to dry the surface wetted by the discharged cleaning liquid. The liquid withdrawn by suction is passed via the hose 56 to a vacuum source provided on a separate wheeled unit 52 (Fig. 6, not shown), which also comprises a tank for the cleaning liquid supplied through the hose 57.
