A gas turbine engine fuel system comprises a pair of pumps 12, 11 connected respectively to main and pilot burner conduits, a fuel flow control device 14 in the main burner conduit, a non- return valve 17 disposed in a passage interconnecting the two conduits to permit flow from the main to the pilot burner conduit, and a valve 15 in the main burner conduit downstream of the control device 14 and opening to permit flow of fuel to the main burners 16 when a predetermined pressure in the main burner conduit is reached, the opening of the valve 15 being modified in accordance with the pressure drop created in the main burner conduit by the control device 14. This pressure drop, which occurs between a passage C and a point A in the main burner conduit, acts on the valve 15 to assist its opening. When the valve 15 opens the non-return valve 17 closes and thereafter the pump 12 supplies only the main burners 16.
