Abstract
1,198,171. Electrolytic indicators. INSTITUT ELEKTROKHIMII AN SSSR. Jan. 19, 1968. No. 2998/68. Heading G1Q. An electro-chemical indicator comprises a sealed transparent electrolytic cell including inert electrodes and an electrolyte which includes a thickening agent, for example starch, capable of forming a stable coloured simplex with the products of the electro-chemical reaction caused by the passage of current. The electrolyte contains iodide ions and a diffusion membrane may be placed between the electrodes to prolong the colour lifetime. The cell is returned to its initial condition by heating to a temperature of between 80 and 100‹ C. two period of 5 to 15 minutes.
