Abstract

1,197,935. Crimping yarns; thread-guides. BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 19 Sept., 1967 [19 Sept., 1966], No. 42594/67. Headings DID and D1F. A yarn-crimping machine comprising falsetwist or compressive e.g. stuffer-box, crimping elements, Figs. 1a and 1b (not shown) preceded and followed (in the direction of yarn travel) by heating and winding means, is operated with delivery bobbins arranged laterally alongside the machine and, optionally, with a thread extraction and/or vapour extraction apparatus. The heating means e.g. curved plates with two or more yarn tracks in the surface thereof, are vertically disposed high overhead for yarn travel downwardly and the yarn is fed and applied thereto by a displaceable and/or pivotable guide device, the height of which is adjustable by means of a guided external handle. The machine thereby combines high yarn speeds, full length heating paths and minimum space at the operator level requirements. In the operation of the device shown in Fig. 2, upward movement of a handle 44 slides a rod 26 in the main bore (40) of a guide 33, against bearing pressure exerted by a spring 43, thus elevating an outer guide element 34 to a position whereat an adjustably counterweighted (at 30) lever 28 is engaged by an abutment 31 and thereby rotated from a position of engagement by an abutment 38 to an operative position in which yarn carried by a pulley 29 has entered the heater 12: the device is secured by location of constriction 42 in bore 41.
