Abstract

1,197,779. Magnetizing and demagnetizing. E.E.T. EUROPEAN ENG. TRUST REG. 6 Dec., 1967 [7 April, 1967], No. 55418/67. Heading H1P. A magnetic device comprises a block (51) of non-magnetic material having a bore (54) formed therein and a pair of right parallelepiped permanent magnets (61) mounted one on each of two opposite sides of the block adjacent the bore, the magnets being magnetized to afford a north pole on one major surface and a south pole on the other major surface, each parallelepiped having mounted in face to face engagement on the major surface a metallic plate (62) coextensive with the major surface. The block 51 may be of plastics and have an additional bore 56 therein. The plates 62 may be of ferrous material. Magnetization of a screwdriver is accomplished by inserting it in either of bores 54 or 56. The screwdriver is demagnetized by drawing it across the edge 71 of the device.
