Abstract
1,196,989. Cable terminations. NEDERLANDSCHE KABELFABRIEKEN N.V. 15 Nov., 1968, No. 54291/68. Addition to 1,042,590. Heading H2E. The electric field around the live conductor 7 of a cable 6 is modified to reduce the risk of breakdown by means of a shielding cone 2 and integral shielding ring 3 formed as a stretchable conductive layer carried on an elastic support member 1. The support member, which is generally cylindrical with a coaxial groove 4 having an outer wall 5, is slipped on to the cable insulation 8 after removal of part of the conductive sheath 9. The assembly is brought into abutment with the edge 12 of the sheath 9 and connected to it by conductive tape 10 or other means.
