Abstract

1,196,678. Contraceptive devices. CHEMOLIMPEX MAGYAR VEGYIARU KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT. 21 Nov., 1967 [24 April, 1967], No. 53005/67. Heading ASR. [Also in Division C3] A water-soluble contraceptive and antivenereal device comprises a film. or moulded article of water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol in admixture with and/or coated with a water-soluble spermicide, the film being a discrete piece of a size suitable for introduction into the vagina. The spermicide may comprise cetylpyridinium, bromide, nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol, triisopropylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol, hexylresorcinal, or pherylmercuric acetate. The device may comprise a piece of polyvinyl alcohol film material 4 x 4 cm. impregnated and coated with cetylpyridinium bromide and used as a vagical suppository and the cetylpyridinium bromide used for the impregnation may be in an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol. The device may alternatively comprise a cap-shaped member 3-4 cm. diameter and 2 cm. height moulded from polyvinyl alcohol material containing the spermicide.
