Abstract

1,195,994. Jet propulsion engines. ROLLSROYCE Ltd. Nov. 12, 1968 [Aug. 15, 1967], No. 37353/67. Heading F1J. [Also in Division G2-3] A fluidic servomotor control system maintains a constant ratio between the compressor delivery pressure P 3 and the jet pipe pressure P J in a gas turbine jet engine, by comparing these pressures in a comparitor circuit, Fig. 8 (Fig. 10 not shown), and feeding the differential output pressures P A , P B into a motor circuit, Fig. 11 or 12 (not shown) to alter the position of flaps 29, Fig. 7 (not shown) which vary the cross sectional area of the final nozzle of the jet pipe. A pair of series connected orifices 32, 33 form a potentiometer feeding input nozzle 34 of an impact modulator 35 the other input 42 of which is paralleled with the input 43 of another impact modulator 38. Inputs 42, 43 are fed through an orifice 40 and this dimension of the three orifices are selected so that for a predetermined ratio P J : P 3 pressures P A and P B are equal. In the modification of Fig. 10 (not shown) the feeder to the impact modulators are changed but the relationship between the pressures remain unaltered. Pressures P A and P B are fed to the motor circuits to unbalance either a spool valve (100 Fig. 11), or a vortex amplifier bridge circuit (126-129 Fig. 12), which controls an actuator connected to the control flaps (29),
