Abstract
1,195,190. Continuous-casting moulds. WIELAND WERKE A.G. 8 April, 1969 [11 April, 1968], No. 18037/69. Addition to 1,086,229. Heading B3F. A graphite continuous-casting mould 2 defining a substantially rectangular mould cavity 1 has a continuously convexly curved outer surface 3 on which a coolable, divided metallic jacket 4, 5 is mounted, means being provided for pulling the divided parts of the jacket together so as to exert controllable compressive forces in radical directions upon the graphite mould 2 at substantially all points of its periphral surface 3. Said means may comprise shoes 18 attached to each of the jacket portions 4 and 5 and tiebolts 12 acting through compression springs 13. It is preferred that the ends of adjacent portions of the metallic jacket overlap. The metallic jacket 4, 5 is cooled by jets of water issuing from holes 7 in a cooling jacket 11.
