Abstract

1,193,650. Water-soluble cellulose ether compositions. COURTAULDS Ltd. 6 Oct., 1967 [21 Nov., 1966], No. 51981/66. Heading C3F, A cellulose ether composition comprises a powdery water-soluble cellulose ether, and a powdery modified water-soluble cellulose ether of the kind claimed in Specification 796,405, the mixture containing at least 10% by weight of each species. Specified is a mixture of 20- 55% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose with a modified (e.g. glyoxal treated) methyl or hydroxyethyl cellulose. An alkaline substance, e.g. Na 2 CO 3 or NaHCO 3 , may also be present. The composition dissolves readily in water.
