Abstract
1,192,881. Controlling burners. RANCO Inc. 20 Feb., 1968 [23 Feb., 1967], No. 8186/68. Heading F4T. A burner control apparatus includes a valve V which when open supplies fuel to a burner 13 and is operated by circuitry including a pulsing circuit B which completes the circuitry for a predetermined time, an igniter circuit C which is connected to said pulsing circuit during the predetermined time to provide ignition pulses and a flame detecting circuit D which maintains the valve open when flame is established at the burner. The pulsing circuit B includes a P-N-P transistor Q1 and diodes D2, D3 and a capacitor C1, the circuit being such that the capacitor C1 is charged during positive half cycles of the alternating current power supply and after a predetermined time of about 4 seconds determined by the values of a resistor R6 and the capacitor C1 the diode D3 no longer conducts and the transistor Q1 no longer conducts so that a silicon controlled rectifier SCR3 of the igniter circuit C is no longer conductive and the igniter circuit is interrupted. Flame failure after ignition causes the fuel valve to be closed.
