In Fig. 1 a decorative member 1 has heart-shaped apertures 2 having projecting lips 3. In Fig. 3 a connecting member 5 for connecting two decorative members together has two heart-shaped raised portions 7 and flexible portions 8. One end of the connecting member 5 is inserted through aperture 2 and the raised portion 7 is then pressed so that the flexible portion 8 is squeezed through the aperture and contacts the under side of the decorative member 1. The decorative member may be made of plastics material. Decorative material such as table mats, coverings, tray cloths may be built up in this manner.
