Abstract

1,191,442. Building ships. ZJEDNOCZENIE PRZEMYSLU OKRETOWEGO. 24 Jan., 1969 [24 Jan., 1968], No. 4302/69. Heading B7S. A hull is built by constructing the aft portion 1 and the middle section 2 abutting each other, hydraulic devices 4 and 13 being provided at the abutment, separating the sections, constructing the fore section 3 of the hull on to the middle section and bringing the aft section and middle section together (by hydraulic devices 4 under braking control of devices 13) for joining. When the hull is being built in a dry dock, the middle section 2 is shifted out of the dock while the aft section 1 is undocked, the middle section is replaced in the dock and the foresection 3 built on to it on blocks 15; the floating aft section 1 is put into the dock, winched toward the middle section, lowered and pulled into abutment using guides 5 and the hydraulic devices 4 and 13, the aft section resting on blocks 19 and the sections then being permanently connected together.
