[Also in Division C4] In an example a mixture of the six isomeric ditolyl ethers is prepared from a mixture of equal parts of o- and p-chlorotoluene containing some m-chlorotoluene by heating with 15% aqueous sodium hydroxide for one hour at 360‹ C. and 250 atmospheres pressure.
