Abstract
1,191,097. Photo-conductive layer. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 27 Feb., 1969 [28 Feb., 1968], No. 10491/69. Addition to 1,153,506. Heading H1K. The light sensitivity of a photo-conductive layer comprising a dye and a hydrophobic polymeric material in a two-phase heterogeneous state and having a wavelength of maximum absorption which is different from that of the dye and polymeric material in a homogeneous state, is increased by coating the photo-conductive layer with a dye solution and drying. The examples of the dye and polymer and supports for forming an electrophotographic element are the same as those in Specification 1,153,506. The dye for the overcoat may be the same as that in the photoconductive layer or different and the overcoat may include a polycarbonate. The solvent used for applying the dye overcoat should preferably cause swelling of the polymer in the photo-conductive layer. Up to 8 dye overcoats may be applied. It is stated that the absorption characteristics of the overcoat are different to that of the overcoating solution.
