Abstract

1,190,765. Protective face shields. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Aug.1, 1967 [Aug.5, 1966], No.35189/66. Heading G2J. A protective face shield comprises a transparent panel 2 which covers the whole face and an eye protecting part 3 having a transparent eyepiece 4 fitted on a shroud 7 which surrounds the wearer's eyes, the part 3 being mounted on the inside surface of panel 2 in such a way that the eye-piece 4 is separated from the panel 2 by a sealed air space. As shown, the eye-piece 4 is fitted in a channel 9 of the shroud 7 so that it is spaced from the front end of the shroud. The shroud 7 directly abuts the panel 2 and is secured thereto by nuts and bolts or by press studs. The eye-piece 4 may be tinted.
