Abstract
1,188,733. Waveguide resonant elements. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 15 Feb., 1968 [28 Feb., 1967], No. 7377/68. Heading H1W. A semi-conductor device 11 is located in a restricted part 15 of an aperture in a waveguide partition 17. The restricted part 15 presents a capacitive reactance to the waveguide and provides a means for mounting the device 11 with a minimum of parasitic effects. The enlarged part 16 of the aperture is primarily inductive and resonates with the part 15. It is tuned by a capacitive screw 21. A control signal is fed to the diode through a coaxial line 18, 19 formed in the partition 17. The line is provided with spaced reactive elements 20 which form a low-pass filter. The partition is thick enough to accommodate the base 13 of the diode package 12. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), a pair of diodes is mounted in an aperture having two restricted parts arranged symmetrically on either side of the enlarged part 16.
