Abstract
118,848. Hart, W. Aug. 28, 1917, [Convention date]. Washing gases; condensers, atmospheric and like.-For cooling and scrubbing gas from suction-gas producers while being fed to internalcombustion engines, the gas is led through tubes 7, arranged between chambers 6, 8, and is finally led by a pipe 9 to the engine. The tubes 7, when fitted to a motor-car or vessel, may be arranged in a passage with a flared inlet for directing currents of air against the tube; but in the form shown, which is applicable also to stationary engines, the tubes are cooled by air circulated by a driven fan 14, and the shaft of this fan drives a pump which delivers scrubbing-water by a pipe 19 from a chamber 17 to the top of a series of perforated inclined plates 15, down which the scrubbing-water flows. The gas enters a passage 21 and is cleansed by the falling liquid and by passage over the inclined plates. Channels 16 collect liquid and dirt, and this may be washed out and into the chamber 17 through the opening 23, from which it may be delivered through an outlet 24 by aid of a tool inserted through the hand-hole 25. A filtering-funnel 20 is used for the tank 17.
