In a mineral-mining machine in which a rotatable cutter tool, e.g. a cutter drum 4, is carried on a hollow shaft 3 supported by the body 1 of the machine, ventilating medium is caused to flow around the periphery of the tool by the medium being caused to flow through the shaft, which is connected by ducting 11 to apertures 13 in the tool adjacent the periphery thereof.
