Abstract

1,187,163. Fluid pressure lifting apparatus. LAYCOCK ENG. Ltd- 17 March, 1969 [22 March, 1968], No. 13915/68. Headings B8B, B8H and B8J. A vehicle lifting apparatus comprises tracks 29 forming part of a platform suspended from corner posts 17 by cables 12, 13, 14, 16 which are coupled to an hydraulic ram 19, 22 mounted on one of the tracks for lifting and lowering the platform and hydraulic jacks 32 mounted on the platform to lift the vehicle relative thereto, manual control valves 27, 28 being provided for the ram and jacks which are connected in a common hydraulic circuit. The cables 12, 13, 14, 16 each have one end attached to the top of a post and pass around pulleys 23 on the platform to a plate 18 on the ram rod 19. Each jack 32 is hooked at 41 adjacent the top of its cylinder on to a lip on the associated track 29 and includes a hollow piston-rod which telescopically receives the stem of a vehicle supporting pad, the stem having holes to receive a cross-pin for adjusting the extension thereof. The piston-rod includes a cross-head upon which the pin seats and to which external piston return springs are attached. Each jack is provided with a manual cut-off valve.
