Abstract

1,186,348. Feeding cigarettes. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd., T. ROWLANDS and D. A. PARKINSON. 26 May, 1967 [1 June, 1966], No. 24481/66. Heading B8S. Cigarettes 2 are discharged from a bulk supply 3 by horizontal hexagonal rollers 1 which are rotated clockwise. The cigarettes are agitated by the said rollers and fall down therebetween in channels which are extended to form the guides shown. Each guide is provided with a suction port 8. Operation.-Cigarettes 2 are agitated by the rollers 1, fall down each passageway 5 and are held by the suction 9. When the suction is released each lowermost cigarette is discharged. The suction is then operated again to stop the next cigarette. Fig. 3 (plan).-Suction from pump 15 is fed to ports 8 through pipe 14 and manifold 12. It is controlled by pivoted plate 16 which is carried by shaft 17 operated from shaft 23 via clutch device 21. Plate 16 operates to close the manifold 12 and at the same time presses open the aperture 19 to the atmosphere to release the suction. A switch device 25 is operated by the suction to indicate the operation of the machine.
