Abstract

1,185,792. Lawn mowers. WOLF G.m.b.H. 15 Jan., 1968 [16 Jan., 1967], No. 2169/68. Heading A1F. A lawn mower comprises a cutting roller 12 with rigid helically extending cutting blades 13 co-operating with a relatively resilient stationary cutter blade in the form of a spring steel strip 14 having four cutting edges and being detachably mounted between two portions 15, 16 of a blade support 20. The blade support 20 is pivotably mounted on an axis 21 and biased in a clockwise direction by means of a helical compression spring 24 co-axial with set screw 22 and disposed between portion 20a of the blade support and portion 23 of the housing 10 of the mower. By adjusting the set screw 22 or the tightening nut 25 the minimum cutting gap beween the strip blade 14 and cutting roller can be set, the blade being able to pivot in an anticlockwise direction against the spring when a foreign body penetrates between the blade and roller. The lower portion of the support 16 has abutments so the blade may be easily fitted into the correct position.
