Abstract

1,185,414. Arc furnace electrode clamps. METALURGITCHEN ZAVOD " LENIN ". 8 May, 1968, No. 21896/68. Heading H5H. An electrode clamp comprises a metallic shell 1 enclosing a graphite or metal-graphite liner 2, which is pressed thereagainst by clamping holders 3, the liner 2 engaging the current conductive protective coating of a carbon electrode (not shown) used in steelmaking arc furnaces. High temperature resistant insulating pads 4 are inserted between the liner 2 and the clamping holders 3. Liner 2 is in one or more pieces. Holders 3 are of a non-magnetic alloy, e.g. austenitic Cr-Ni steel.
