Abstract
1,185,251. Resistors; inductors; capacitors. SPRAGUE ELECTRIC CO. 4 March, 1968 [27 March, 1967], No. 10318/68. Headings H1M. HIS and H1T [Also in Division C1] A mixture of a high-temperature prefired ceramic material which matures above 2000‹ F. in combination with a low-temperature ceramic material which softens between 1100‹ F. and 1500‹ F. (see Division C1) is used to form electrical components. A slip or paste of the mixture is sprayed, screened or drawn on a temporary substrate to form a ceramic layer. To form a resistor a metallic resistor ink, e.g. a PdO-Ag glass frit, is screened on to the layer, a top layer of the ceramic slip is applied over the ink, the resistor is cut whilst green, silver terminal pick-ups are applied and the units fired at 1300-1450‹ C. Inductors are made by screening a coil patten of silver, gold, or silverpalladium alloy on to the green substrate, applying a top layer of ceramic slip and firing. A four-plate multi-layer capacitor is made by incorporating electrodes, formed from a silver point, between layers of the ceramic slip and firing at 1400‹ F. A microcircuit 10 comprises ceramic layers 11, 12 and 13 with an inductor 14 and a resistor 15 disposed between the layers 11 and 12 and with two electrodes 16 on opposite sides of the layer 12 forming a capacitor.
