Abstract

1,184,168. Knitting-machines looms, warping. APPALACHIAN ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS Inc. 18 July, 1968 [29 March, 1968], No. 34187/68. Headings D1C, D1E and D1M. [Also in Division G3] A stop-motion is provided to detect a broken thread in a warp being fed to a warp knitting machine, loom or warping machine and comprises a slotted tube or tubes 24, 24a which directs a direct stream of air against the warp and deflects the broken thread into the path of a light ray of a photoelectric device whereby any disturbance of the ray causes a detector to respond and effect stoppage of the machine. One or more warps 18 may be fed to the machine and a number of photoelectric devices 28a ... 28c may be caused to span with their rays part or all of the warps. Each photoelectric device comprises a light source and a reflector 31 for reflecting the light back to the detector head 29 where it is mirrored onto the sensitive surface of a phototransistor.
