Abstract
1,183,854. Bis-triazinylaminostilbenes. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 14 July, 1967, No. 32591/67. Heading C2C. Brightening agents are produced by condensing 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diamino - stilbene - 2,2<SP>1</SP> disulphonic acid, or salts thereof, with aminodichlorotriazinyl compounds of the general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 each are H, C 1-5 alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups, or carboxyalkyl or alkoxycarbonylalkyl groups having 1-5 C atoms in the alkyl moiety or, jointly with the N-atom, form the morpholine, piperidine or pyrrolidine ring system, in a mole ratio of 1:2 in an aqueous medium which is free of organic solvents and optionally reacting the condensation product with ammonia or amines. The aminodichlorotriazine compounds are preferably used in a purified state. In the examples, 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diaminostilbene - 2,2<SP>1</SP> - disulphonic acid disodium salt is reacted with (1 and 4) the 2- diethanolamino-; (2) the 2-[N-methylethanolamino]-; (3) 2-pyrrolidino-; (5) 2-aminoderivatives, respectively, of 4,6-dichloro-1,3,5- triazine. The aminodichlorotriazines are prepared by reacting cyanuric chloride with ammonia or the required amine such as, in the Examples: (1) and (4) diethanolamine; (2) N-methylethanolamine; (3) pyrrolidine and (5) ammonia.
