Abstract

1,183,075. Electrophotography. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 8 June, 1967 [9 June, 19661, No. 26404/67. Heading H1K. An electrophotographic material comprises a supported photo-conductive layer containing a 2, 3, 4, 5 tetra-aryl pyrrole photo-conductor. The photo-conductor may be coated directly on to a support or mixed with a binder. A list of suitable binders is given, the preferred binder being a polyester of terephthalic acid and 2,2-bis-[4-#-hydroxyethoxy)-phenyl] propane. The support is preferably Al-laminated paper but may also be Al, Zn, brass, Cu or galvanized plates or foils, paper, cellulose or polyester coated with Cu 2 I 2 . Pyrylium and thiapyrylium salts are preferred as sensitizers but others are listed. The preferred pyrroles are 2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl pyrrole; 2,3,4,5,-tetra-p-tolyl pyrrole and 2,3,4,5-tetra-p-anisyl pyrrole but others are listed.
