Abstract

1,182,752. Childs seat. F.D.T.S. Ltd. 29 April, 1968 [20 Feb., 1968], No. 8291/68. Heading A4J. [Also in Division A3] A childs safety seat for vehicles comprises a single L-shaped metal plate forming a seat 5, and back 4 and provided with anchoring members 10 for straps 8, 9 at the upper region of the back and at the region where the back joins the seat. The two upper straps 8 pass over the top of the back 1 of the rear seat of the vehicle and are secured to eye-bolts, either on a structural member of the car near the rear panel shelf or on the decking of the vehicle (Fig. 2). The single strap 9 passes between the back and seat of the rear seat and is secured either to the seat pan or to the decking (Fig. 2). The straps 8, 9 have length adjusters (11). Two L-shaped plywood side members 6 are secured to the metal plate and the seat and back are padded with foam polyurethane and covered with p.v.c. A child's harness comprises an adjustable shoulder strap 12, an adjustable waist strap 13, an adjustable crutch strap 14 and a quick release buckle. The harness straps pass through holes in the padding and the metal plate.
