A method of providing a surface of wood, cardboard or metal with a printed pattern, e.g. graining, comprises laminating a transparent plastics sheet, e.g. of polyvinyl chloride, to said surface with a printed adhesive film, e.g. of a silicone. Bonding may be effected by the application of pressure. When a thin wood veneer is used, the other surface may be backed by paper.
