Abstract

118,135. Penning, C. J. H. Aug. 7, 1917. Channels and reservoirs in engine crank-casings.-An internalcornbustion engine of the kind described in Specification 12068/13, [Class 7 (ii), Internalcombustion engines, Arrangement &c. of], in which the cylinders 2 are in pairs and each has two pistons 7 which drive a single crank-shaft 34 through levers 15 at both ends of the cylinder, has the levers enclosed in a casing 4 with an air-tight partition 25 between the cylinders, Lubricant is pumped from a bottom chamber 74 on one side of the engine to a top chamber on the other side, as indicated by the chain line 77. Thence the oil flows over the bearings 24 and through the cylinders and admission passages to the lower chambers.
