1,180,855. Track engaging brakes for rail vehicles. KRAMPE & CO. FERTIGUNG IN BERGBAUBEDARF G.m.b.H. 2 Feb., 1968 [18 March, 1967], No. 5336/68. Heading F2E. A track engaging brake-shoe of an overhead monorail vehicle has spiked track-engaging surfaces as shown, which gouge into the rail flanges during brake application. The spikes may be sintered metal studs brazed to the shoe or alternatively comprise eight weld formations applied to the shoe using hard filler welding rods which are subsequently ground to a pyramid shape. Additionally the shoe may have a conventional lining.
