Abstract

1,180,453. Reciprocating pumps. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. Nov. 6, 1967 [Nov. 18, 1966], No. 50323/67. Heading F1A. The stroke of a reciprocating pump is regulated by varying the suction or return stroke by means of an eccentric stop. An actuator 48 is secured to an abutment member 54 which in turn is secured to a stud embedded in a pump diaphragm 28. The actuator 48 is biased towards air actuating cam 44 by a spring 62, the return stroke being regulated by the engagement of the member 54 with an eccentric portion 82 on the hub 80 of an adjustment knob 76 which is spring-loaded into engagement with an indicator knob 70 secured to the pump housing. Inward movement of the knob 76 disengages teeth 84 so that the eccentric portion 82 may be adjusted to vary the return position of the member 54 and hence the suction stroke of the diaphragm. The cam 44 is driven by an electric motor 34 through gearing 36.
