Abstract

1,180,413. Vacuum head photo-copy machine. H.G. JONES. Jan. 24, 1968 [Jan. 24, 1967], No.3617/67. Heading G2A. In a photo-copy machine having an exposure glass 7, Fig.2, a vacuum head comprises a flexible nylon blanket 1 having one end secured to an end (6, Fig.3 not shown) of the exposure glass, the blanket being unwrapped from a roller 2 mounted in box 4 running on guide rails 8, and on reaching its forward position the box trips a switch to activate a vacuum pump 13, evacuating the space between the blanket and glass through holes (14, Fig.3 not shown) in the latter. A porous mesh 15 extending to approximately one inch of the outer edges, is fastened to the underside of the blanket, to enable air to be drawn from the centre of the blanket, the outer edges of which are sealed to the glass by the vacuum.
