Abstract
1,179,011. Controlling reversing gears; linkwork. J. MERCIER. 24 Jan., 1967 [25 Jan., 1966],No. 3593/67. Addition to 1,063,161. Headings F2D and F2K. [Also in Division F1] The initial rotation of a cam 70 in one direction causes engagement of a forward clutch and the initial rotation of the cam in the opposite direction causes engagement of a reverse clutch, continued movement in either direction causing the speed of an associated engine to increase. The clutches (not shown) are controlled by a rod 85 connected to one end of a pivoted lever 71, the other end of which engages in a cut-out 75 in the. cam. The engine accelerator is controlled by a cable 72 fixed to the cam at the apex of a notch 78 therein so that a predetermined rotation is necessary before the cable commences to wind round the cam. Guide rollers 80 for the cable are provided. To cause rotation of the cam a lever 16 associated with a transmitter piston 14 is moved to force a column of liquid through a line 19, 22, 64 to a remote slave unit 41 having an output piston-rod 46 connected to the periphery of the cam 70.
