Abstract

1,178,292. Bearings. INA-ROULEMENTS S.A. 8 Feb., 1967 [11 Feb., 1966], No. 6036/67. Heading F2A. A cage for a roller thrust bearing is provided with pockets 2, Fig. 2, each of which receives at least two rollers 3 therein, the rollers making point-contact with each other on the internal pitch-circle 4 thereof. The rollers 3 in a pocket 2 of a cage are separated from each other on the external pitch-circle 5 thereof by means of a stud 7. The rollers 3 are retained by means of projections 7a on the studs 7 and by deformation of portions 6a and 6b of the pockets 2. A space 10 formed between the rollers in each pocket may be provided with lubricant. The axes of the rollers pass through the centre 8 of the bearing. In another embodiment, three rollers 3<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, are retained in each pocket 2<SP>1</SP> of the cage and studs 7<SP>1</SP>, which are longer than the studs 7, are provided between the rollers. Each stud 7<SP>1</SP> has formed thereon a number of roller retaining projections 7a<SP>1</SP> at different distances from the centre 8<SP>1</SP> of the bearing. In a modification (not shown) the pockets 2 are replaced by a single annular compartment.
