Abstract
1,175,954. Light dividers. BALZERS PATENT-und BETEILIGUNGS A.G. Jan. 22, 1968 [Feb. 7, 1967], No.3162/68. Heading G2J. A light divider comprises a glass or other carrier on which alternate high and low refractive index layers are deposited of optical thickness # o /4n where # o is the mean wavelength of the working range and n is the refractive index of the individual layers, and on the uppermost layer a further layer of different refractive index to those of the other layers is deposited which provides a wider and flatter transmission band than if it were omitted. In an example alternate layers of titanium oxide (n = 2À4) and magnesium flouride (n = 1À38) are deposited and a further layer of refractive index 1À62 is then provided.
