Abstract

1,175,668. Feeding sheets. E. W. HELLINGS and R. W. WINCHESTER. 4 April, 1967 [4 April, 1966], No. 14908/66. Heading B8R. Articles, e.g. paper or cardboard plates 6, are dispensed from a container 1 by a rotatable sawtoothed wheel 16, which engages the underside of the lowermost article through an aperture 5 in stack-supporting tray 4, and when actuated by manually operable lever 21, through a uni-directional clutch ejects the lowermost article through dispensing orifice 13. Hand lever 21 may be connected to one or more wheels 16 through a clutch comprising spring loaded pawls 23, mounted on an outer shaft 15, Fig. 1, which engage stops 20 of cam lobes 19 forming part of a cam 18 connected to shaft 14 which carries wheels 16. A torque spring 24, Fig. 1, may be provided to return lever 21 to its initial position after operation. A weight 7 carried by vertically slidable plunger 8 may rest on top of the stack. Clips 9 may be provided to retain weight 7 in a retracted position for loading the container. Plunger 8 may be replaced by a chain (26, Fig. 3, not shown) connected to door 11 such that when compartment 2 is being reloaded through door 11, weight 7 is raised to an inoperative position. Compartment 2 may be provided with windows 10 and 12. A removable drawer 25, Fig. 1, may be provided in the base of compartment 3 to collect fluff or particles cut from articles 6 by wheels 16.
