Abstract

1,175,153. Doll. M. I. GLASS [trading as MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES]. 13 March, 1967 [16 March, 1966], No. 11561/67. Heading A6S. A doll which will simulate a sneeze has means interconnecting the arms 14, 16 and head 12 comprising a two part shaft 32 composed of a portion 34 fixed in cam plate 30 so as to turn therewith and portion 36 fixed in cam plate 38 fixed to flange 40 on a shoulder joint 42; portions 34 and 36 are joined by swivel portion 44. Swinging movement of arm 14 causes rocking of shaft portion 34 which in turn causes a spasmodic movement of head 12. Shaft portion 34 has fixed thereon a latchlike actuating finger 54 and raising of arm 14 causes clockwise movement of the finger, the upper portion of which moves across surface 56a and then engages the rear of latch element 56. Lowering of left arm 14 causes counterclockwise movement of finger 54 which pushes against latch 56 and causes clockwise rotation of plate 48 and head 12 about pin 46 thus drawing back the head. An instant later point 64 escapes from latch element 56 whereupon spring 50 returns plate 48 and head 12 to their normal positions with a snap, and lower point portion 72 on plate 48 encounters end plate 74 of a bellows unit 76 which is quickly compressed by the motion of plate 48, and a noisemaker 78 is activated by the resulting puff of air thereby simulating a sneezing sound.
