Abstract

1,174,515. Electric resistance heating coatings. BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Inc. 16 April, 1968 [2 May, 1967], No. 17771/68. Heading H5H. [Also in Division G1] An infra-red radiation source comprises a thin layer 31 of resistance material, comprising a solidified binder and a finely divided conductive material dispersed therein, which is fired on an insulating base 30 and has terminals 32 connected thereto, e.g. by a silver paste 34 overlapping the edges of the layer 31, the terminal wires 32 being connected to the conductive paste 34 by silver soldering. The wires 32 extend over the entire length of the base 30. A noble metal is dispersed in a ceramic binder to provide the layer 31, and the base 30 is alumina or steatite. The layer is silk screened on to the insulating base. The source is used in an infrared analyser (see Division G1)
