Abstract
1,173,450. Ion beam tubes. GES. FUER KERNFORSCHUNG m.b.H. 11 Aug., 1967 [12 Aug., 1966], No. 36992/67. Addition to 1,080,545. Heading H1D. The neutron generator of the parent Specification comprising an ion source 1, e.g. of the duo-plasmatron type, and a target housing 11 suspended within a main housing 7 is modified to utilize a plurality of ion beams 8, e.g. seven ion beams located at the corners and at the centre of a regular hexagon. Within the target housing is a honeycomb target container 13. Oil cooling passages are shown at 18, 14. The ion source chamber may be moved laterally and/or upwardly by means of a pivoting device 6.
