Abstract
1,173,381. Spectacle frames. R. RODENSTOCK. Feb. 17, 1967 [Feb.19, 1966], No. 7769/67. Heading G2J. A composite spectacle frame comprises a pair of lens holding rings 1 secured in a moulded top frame member including a central nose bridge and a pair of brow bars 8, the hinge joints 5 for the frame side members being carried by the lens holders, the lower portions of the lens holders being exposed from the frame member. The hinge joints 5 are preferably carried on metal angles 4 connected to locking clamps 2 soldered to the holding rings 1. The holding rings are secured to the moulded top frame by screws 9, 10 and a lug 7 which projects into the lower end of the flank of a nose pad on the nose bridge. The outer ends of the frame member are made flush with the upper edges of the angles 4. The moulded frame member may be formed of portions of different transparency, the regions adjacent the lens holding rings being less transparent or translucent than other regions. The lower part of the nose piece may be fully transparent with a substantially horizontal interface with a fully or partially opaque region extending along the eyebrows of the wearer.
