Abstract

1,171,378. Separating particles from gases; contacting gases with liquids. U. REGEHR. 1 Dec., 1967 [2 Dec., 1966], No. 54819/67. Headings B1R and BIT. Apparatus for removing solid or liquid particles from a gas stream comprises parallel sinusoidal baffles, defining winding paths therebetween and having particletrapping channels 4 at their crests, these channels being defined by walls 5, 7 whose shape generally conforms to the sinusoidal shape of the baffles but reduces the cross-sections of the paths. Other, simpler, channels 8, 9, 10 may be provided on either side of channels 4 and at the downstream ends of baffles. Baffles may be roughened or wetted with solvent to improve wettability by liquid particles. Fig. I (not shown) illustrates a simpler version.
