Abstract

1,170,468. Carbazole derivatives. DR. A. WANDER S.A. 15 Nov., 1967 [16 Nov., 1966; 2 June, 1967], No. 51911/67. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are each C 1-3 alkyl or (optionally mono- or di-alkylated) aminoalkyl or NR 1 R 2 is pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, piperazino or 4-C 1-3 -alkylpiperazino (in which the alkyl group may be substituted by HO, acyl-O or C 1-3 -alkyl-O). These compounds are made by reducing the corresponding butyre to butene, or by reacting Z-H with a reactive ester of Y-CH 2 -CH = CH-CH 2 OH, one of Y and Z being -NR 1 R 2 , and the other the 9- carbazolyl radical. The above compounds are anticonvulsants, and are administered enterally or parenterally in the form of therapeutic compositions with conventional pharmaceutical carriers.
