Abstract

1,168,376. Rolling. MANNESMANNMEER A.G. 19 April, 1968 [25 April, 1967], No. 18721/68. Heading B3M. A cold pilger mill stand 20 carries vertically disposed rolls 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, and includes guides 21, 21<SP>1</SP> which support the stand for reciprocation in a horizontal plane. The stand is reciprocated by arms 23, 23<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 4, in plan) whose journals 22, 22<SP>1</SP> lie in the vertical plane of the roll axes, the rolls being rotated by stationary racks 18, 18<SP>1</SP>. The dispositions of the guides and journals minimize the tilting forces normally operative on such a stand. Two pairs of similar rolls can be supported side by side in the stand in a common vertical plane.
