Abstract

116,824. Riedler, A. Sept. 28, 1917. Pistons, cooling.-In a piston for an internalcombustion engine, the cooling of the head is facilitated by the insertion inside the head of a body e which is a good conductor of heat and the cross-section of which is as shown to facilitate the flow of heat. In order to promote the flow of heat, the surfaces of the body e and piston may be formed with engaging ribs and grooves. The piston skirt may be of cast-iron and the bead may be of the same material or of steel.
