Abstract

1,167,273. Retractable fountain pens. W. ENGLER. 20 Sept., 1967 [21 Sept., 1966], No. 42872/67. Heading B6P. The feed-bar of a retractable fountain pen has an air duct section 1d branching from the main duct 11, 1d, 1c, 1b 1a. The bottom of duct sections 1d and 1d<SP>1</SP> comprises a strip 6 of flexible material such as rubber. A spring-loaded lever 8 is biased to shut off section 1d from sections 1d<SP>1</SP> and 11 by deforming the strip 6 when the pen is retracted. When projected, a cam surface 10 co-operates with the lever end 86 to pivot the lever away from the strip 6.
