Abstract
1,166,909. Pressure-relieving devices. CANADIAN PATENTS & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 25 Aug., 1967 [15 Sept., 1966], No. 39180/67. Heading F2V. [Also in Divisions G2 and H1] The fluid pressure acting on a device 10, e.g. a laser, when the temperature varies, is controlled in a predetermined manner by providing a resilient element 26 in fluid-filled chamber 15, the element having an appropriate stiffness coefficient, which is preferably determined empirically. As described, the overall change in pressure with temperature is just sufficient to counteract changes in a dimension of device 10 with temperature. In place of a spring 26 in a bellows 24 a sealed bellows containing air may be provided, or a lump of rubber may be used. Threaded rod 29 is used for adjusting the nominal pressure in the container.
