Abstract
1,166,123. Benzodiazocine derivatives. SANDOZ Ltd. 6 Oct., 1966 [18 Oct., 1965], No. 44711/66. Heading C2C. 1 - Substituted - 1,2,3,4,5,6 - hexahydro - 2,5- benzodiazocines of the general formula wherein R is a phenyl or p-chlorophenyl radical, and acid addition salts thereof are prepared by reduction of a 9b - substituted - 1,2,3,9btetrahydro - 5H - imidazo[2,1 - a]isoindol - 5- one of the general formula with an aluminium hydride, followed by optional conversion to an acid addition salt of the product. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a 1- substituted - 1,2,3,4,5,6 - hexahydro - 2,5- benzodiazocine of the first general formula above, as active ingredient, in addition to a physiologically acceptable, inert carrier, are central nervous stimulants and appetite depressants and may be administered orally or parenterally. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,059,174.
